Tips for a great first appointment

The first time at a new dentist can be a little overwhelming, so we try to make you as comfortable and prepared as possible before you even step through our front doors.
Take a look at the checklist below to make sure you are good to go!

Fill out your paperwork

The more we know about your child’s health and dental history, the better we can provide care to them. Please finish as much of our new patient paperwork as you can prior to your visit - this will not only help speed up the intake process, but it will help our team prepare to meet your child! We know waiting with a nervous kid is no fun, but with a little preparation, you’ll be out of that waiting room in a flash!

Arrive On Time

We value your time, as well as the time of our other patients. We try and stay on-schedule as much as possible, and that requires some help from you! Arriving after your appointment has begun can possibly result in a shortened or incomplete appointment, or even a reschedule. While we understand emergencies happen, we ask that you give us notice if you expect to arrive after your scheduled appointment time.

Don’t forget the Smile Zone!

Likely one of most fun things about Perfect Teeth for Kids is our Smile Zone. It’s something for the kiddos to look forward to after a good visit, but it’s also a great way for them to get out some energy. Leaving the dentist healthy, happy, and TIRED is our goal, so remember to allow time in your schedule for them to take advantage of our laser tag arena and arcade!

Q: When should I schedule my child’s first dental appointment?
A: Parents are advised to schedule their child’s first dental visit by the time they reach their first birthday. By this age, your child should have already formed their initial baby teeth and additional baby teeth will continue to quickly develop.

Q: Why should they see the dentist so early, they don’t even have all of their teeth yet?
A: By scheduling dental visits for your child early in life, children become more familiar with the process and develop a level of comfort that will carry over for future visits. Starting early is the best way to get your child on the right track for healthy teeth and a gorgeous smile.

Q: Why is their first visit so important?
A: The first dental visit is a very important time for both the parent and the child. It is our first chance to examine your child’s gums and oral structures and make sure that everything is developing as it should. We use this key opportunity to provide parents with important information regarding teething, cavity prevention, thumb sucking and more. As well as, allow parents the opportunity to address any concerns about their child’s oral health.

A: Absolutely! We accept children of all ages, no matter how many other dentists they’ve seen.
